Administrative Division
The Administrative Division encompasses the Adult Detention Center, State Certification, Human Resources, Policies and
Standards, Training, Internal Affairs, Financial Reporting and Grant Management.
The Administrative Division is led by Captain Jeff Edge. Captain Edge began his career in public safety in 1984 as a security
officer. He became a deputy sheriff in 1988. In 1989 Jeff accepted a job with the Georgia Department of Corrections. At the
Department of Corrections Jeff performed duties as a CO I, CO II, Parole Officer, and Senior Drill Instructor. In 1992 Jeff
completed drill instructor training with both the United States Army and the United States Marines. In 1993 Jeff was chosen as
the Northeast District's Officer of the Year and subsequently selected as the Officer of the Year for the State of Georgia for 1994.
In 1994 Captain Edge obtained an Associates of Arts degree from Truett-McConnell College and, in 1999, received a T-2
Teaching Certificate from Georgia Southern. Afterward, he became the Public Safety/Criminal Justice instructor at Union
County High School and remained for four years. Jeff Edge holds a Bachelor of Arts from Reinhardt University in
Organizational Management.
Captain Edge's Training background includes: Over 2,000 hours in Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)
Courses as well as other law enforcement and public administarion training. His training includes: POST General Instructor,
POST Firearms Instructor, CPR/First Aid Instructor, Officer Safety/Use of Force Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor
Certification, Cap-Stun Pepper Spray Instructor, Leadership/Team Building (Ropes Course) Instructor, Basic Police Officer,
Basic Probation Officer, Basic Correctional Officer, Defensive Tactics/PPCT, Correctional Emergency Response Team, Detail
Officer Workshop, Incident Command, Leadership Principles, Drill Instructor Training Program-United States Marine Corps,
Quantico, VA, Rehabilitation Officer Drill Instructor Training-United States Army Military Police School, Ft. McClellan, AL., as
well as other related training.
