The Towns County Detention Center is led by Captain Tully
Griggs.  Captain Griggs started his career with the Georgia
Department of Natural Resources in 1988.  In 1990 Tully
went to work for the Georgia Department of Corrections
where he spent the next 18 years as a CO I and then a CO II.

During his time with the Georgia Department of
Corrections, Captain Griggs ran the Intensive Therapeutic
Program (ITP) for an all-men's maximum security prison.
The ITP program was designed to deal with the worst of
the worst, men who could not be allowed in general
population due to their propensity for violence towards
other inmates and officers.  Inmates who were able to
complete the ITP program, which included a boot camp
style regimen, could be returned to general population.

Captain Griggs has had the distinctive honor of being
requested by the Georgia Sheriffs' Association Staff to sit
on a board reviewing the Jail Officer Mandate training for
the State of Georgia.
